Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a British-American sitarist as well as a music producer. She was the youngest and the first woman to be awarded an award from the British House of Commons Shield she's had nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first musician of Indian origin to perform live in concert and serve as a presenter at the award ceremony. Anoushka Sitar Shankar is an Indian young sitar artist. She is a student and granddaughter of legendary Ravi Shankar. She was born in 1982 in London. The first few years of her life were spent between London and New Delhi. Her first performance took place at New Delhi when she was thirteen years old. Then the same year, in Encinitas CA she attended high school, graduating with distinction in 1999. Anouskha is an aspiring young lady, however she's got an remarkable career in the field of music and performance. She has been accompanying her father on stage for several years. The year 1998 saw her released Anourag as her first single album. The Grammy Award-winning Live at Carnegie Hall was released two years later than her first solo album. Since she's performed at every major stage in the world, her performance career has been extensive. Anoushka's career goes beyond music. Bapi The Love of My Life is an illustrated biography she wrote in 2002. It is a tribute to her father, who passed away in 2002. Ravi Shankar. Also, she has acted. in the 2003 movie Dance Like a Man, in which she played a Bharat Natyam dancer young girl. The career of Anoushka Shankar is in the process of developing and she will continue to do many great things in the coming years. Anoushka was a frequent traveler and spent lots of her time in London and Delhi throughout her childhood. Later, she moved to California to attend high school. When she was nine years old, she began studying music under her father, who made her debut with the sitar 4 years later at the celebration of his 75th birthday in Delhi. Anoushka had the opportunity to acquire many valuable experiences by accompanying her dad when he toured the world. It included performances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festivals in addition to recording with George Harrison. In the end, The House of Commons Shield was given an award by the British Parliament in recognition of being the top Asian Arts musician. She is the only woman and is the smallest recipient of this distinction.
